SEBI Update: Draft of the Revised Investor Charter for Research Analysts

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (“SEBI”) has proposed a revised ‘Investor Charter for Research Analysts’ with the aim of strengthening financial consumer protection and enhancing transparency in the services offered by Research Analysts (“RAs”).[1]

The original Investor Charter for RAs was introduced via circular dated December 13, 2021, providing a framework outlining the rights and responsibilities of investors availing services from research analysts, along with guidance on dos and donts, services provided, and available grievance redressal mechanisms. However, with evolving market dynamics and the introduction of platforms like Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) and SCORES 2.0, SEBI has found it necessary to revisit and update the charter to reflect current practices and ensure better investor awareness and protection.

Accordingly, a draft of the revised circular has been issued for public consultation. SEBI has invited comments and suggestions from stakeholders on the same, which can be submitted online through the public comments’ portal latest by May 02, 2025.
