On May 02, 2025, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (“SEBI”), through its Department of Debt and Hybrid Securities (POD II), has issued a Consultation Paper inviting public comments on proposed regulatory amendments concerning Real Estate Investment Trusts (“REITs”) and Infrastructure Investment Trusts (“InvITs”).[1]
SEBI has invited comments, views, and suggestions from the public and relevant market participants on the proposals detailed in the paper latest by May 22, 2025.
The objective of the consultation is to review and refine the regulatory framework governing REITs and InvITs to ensure it remains aligned with market developments, investor protection norms, and international best practices. The proposals are aimed at enhancing the operational flexibility, transparency, and efficiency of these investment vehicles while safeguarding the interests of unit holders and other stakeholders.
